It's not too hard to keep up with all the social media and blogging and networking and whatnot but remembering screen names and passwords is a chore. Even for someone like me who tries to keep them all a bit similar so they're easier to remember. Ugh!

Oh, and I don't like this Google account mess.

Transcribing and typing from home is a real option in these down times, however it is not for everyone. First off, you should test yourself to see if you'd be able to do it. Find free typing and transcription tests online to test your ability and speed. Be aware though that these tests would not be the norm for actual transcription work. It is a start, so try it.

Invest in a Foot Pedal

One thing any transcriptionist will need is a good foot pedal.  A foot pedal is needed in order to control playback of the files being transcribed to text. Below is a newer model of the one I use. In fact, I am considering purchasing another just so I have a backup.
